I have been working hard (rehearsing and recording) with my main band Soul Sign, and we will have some exciting news soon...

New incredible gear has found me including the powerful Blackstar Drumfire multiroom bluetooth speaker. And a new addition to my Ibanez arsenal is the much priceworthy, lightweight and easy to play RGB300 bass. Things came full circle when artist relations Tyler Busque decided to use this bass to recreate some photos of me and my longterm RD707, which were originally taken in 1993 by my friend Micke Persson!

Also thanks to Fishman for the perfect sounding acoustic preamp, and Al Bane for the much practical leather pick holders!

Die Autobiographie ist großformatig und mit einem gepolsterten Hardcover umschlagen, hochwertig aufgemacht mit wertigem Papier und hochaufgelösten Fotos. Diese zeigen neben Live- und Bandfotos auch Selteneres wie Text- und Notationsentwürfe, Eintrittskarten, Werbeplakate oder Zeitungsartikel etc. Die Fotos werden jeweils mit diversen Hintergrundinformationen komentiert und machen ganz ohne Zweifel einen erheblichen Teil der Attraktivität dieser Veröffentlichung aus.

Die textlichen Inhalte bestehen aus Interviews der Bandmitglieder selbst, die Co-Autor Mark Blake koordiniert hat. Sie decken einen Zeitraum von über 50 Jahren Jethro Tull ab. Selbstverständlich nehmen die Anfangszeit und die Jahre bis zum Aufstieg in den Rock-Olymp den größten Umfang ein.

Die Interviewform ist eine sehr schöne Möglichkeit, die Autobiographie aller Mitglieder von Jethro Tull - und das waren über die Jahre sehr viele - als Bandgefüge darzustellen. Dabei kann man erfahren, dass aus einer Gruppe Freunde, die innerhalb der Band weitestgehend gleichwertige Mitglieder waren, durch diverse äußere und innere Einflüsse einen grundlegenden Wandel vollziehen musste. Daraus folgte, dass Ian Anderson der unumstrittene Boss der Truppe wurde - nicht nur musikalisch, sondern auch in finanziellen Dingen.

Ab den ersten Anfängen folgt die Autobiographie chronologisch den Veröffentlichungen von Jethro Tull mit vielen damit zusammenhängenden Ereignissen (Touren, Besetzungswechsel etc.). Immer wieder kommen auch private Dinge neben Jethro Tull zur Sprache. Dabei geht es dann um Landgüter, Firmen und auch Familiäres.

Hardcore-Fans von Jethro Tull mögen vielleicht bemängeln, dass gegenüber englischen Veröffentlichungen keine wesentlichen Neuigkeiten zu erfahren wären. Ich selbst hätte mir gewünscht, dass man eine Übersicht über alle interviewten Personen beigefügt hätte, um im Zweifel schnell mal nachschauen zu können. Aber alleine die Fotos, das absolut schlüssige Konzept und die hochwertige Aufmachung marginalisieren diese kleinen Kritikpunkte.

Eine sehr wohltuende Band-Bio, deren Anteil an Sex, Drugs and Scandal gering ist. Das Buch ist leicht zu lesen, schön bebildert, hochwertig aufgemacht und insgesamt eine Augenweide. In vielen Texten findet man auch den zutiefst schwarzen englischen Humor, der vielen Inselbewohnern irgendwie angeboren scheint.

Absolut empfehlenswert!

The release date of the of the album "Timescape" by the Neoclassic/Prog Power Metal Band KENZINER on Double Vinyl via PURE STEEL RECORDS is August 20th, 2020. The pre-order phase will start on August 14th, 2020 in our webshop. The Album will be released in a limited Edition of 300 black copies and insert on Vinyl.
KENZINER wanted to conquer the world in 1998 with their debut ´Timescape´ and its famous prog metal. The source of inspiration for the Finnish guitarist Jarno Keskinen were of course 80s guitar sorcerers like Yngwie Malmsteen or Chris Impellitteri. As singer on this debut and his successor (´The Prophecies´) was Stephen Fredrick, who later joined FIREWIND, and as producer and text writer the team even had support by the shredding legend David T. Chastain. With this manpower, these neoclassical virtuosos immediately moved up to the level of the early SYMPHONY X and are still an experience for friends of Neoclassical / Progressive Power Metal many years later.

The release date of the of the new album "Black Bubbling Ooze" by the Swedish Heavy Metal Band STARBLIND on VINYL via PURE STEEL RECORDS is September 4th, 2020. The pre-order phase will start on August 21st, 2020 in our webshop. The Album will be released in a limited Edition of 300 red transparent/black Splatter copies and insert on Vinyl.
After two albums, the Swedes in STARBLIND had to cope with a change of vocalist in 2016. But the newly acquired Marcus S. Olkerud did splendid work on the third album. An album that already shows the direction of where the quintet is headed with their fourth work ‘Black Bubbling Ooze’.
Wonderful twin guitar runs by the duo Björn Rosenblad and Johan “J.J” Jonasson are a shining example of Melodic Metal. The hammering bass lines provided by Daniel Tillberg together with the thunderous drum works by Zakarias Wikner create a solid and heavy foundation that gets your heart pounding. In addition, the vocals manage to steer the eight compositions into the classic vein of true Heavy Metal. Of course, comparisons to IRON MAIDEN are inevitable this time as well, but at this level of quality, other formations of a similar nature must make a strong impression to compare.
STARBLIND will certainly make many new friends with ‘Black Bubbling Ooze’.

BYFIST sign worldwide deal with PURE STEEL RECORDS

In the early to mid 1980’s, guitarists Davey Lee and Nacho Vara were well known in the San Antonio Texas metal scene with their respective bands, Sabre Sabatazh (Davey) and Séance (Nacho). Surprising many, Nacho left Séance and joined Davey’s band in June 1987. Soon after joining forces, the band name changed to BYFIST. Davey and Nacho were the main song writers. During this time, BYFIST shunned the ongoing Glam scene by delivering raw, no fluff, and no frills Power Metal.

BYFIST released two EP's “You Should Have Known” and "Adrenaline". The latter was Produced by the late David Wayne (Metal Church and Reverend) and engineered by Joe Floyd (Warrior). During their careers, more specifically between 2002 and 2005 both Lee and Vara were members of REVEREND until Wayne's passing in May of 2005.

In 2008, the band released "Preserving The Past", their first full-length album.

In October 2010, Davey Lee passed away suddenly, leaving co-founding member Nacho Vara to lead the charge. After a few years and various line-up changes, Nacho has established a strong line-up which continues today to help him honor Davey Lee’s memory.

Blak Earth - Voyager

Blak Earth was created in June of 2014 by Eric Claro.

The band performed at numerous venues in Southern California,
including M15 Concerts in Corona, where they were direct support for Lita Ford.
Blak Earth decided to take a backseat in 2015 due to personal commitments and differences.
After years of being in hiatus, Eric decided to contacted some of the original members to revive the sleeping beast.

The band is currently in the studio working on new material.
Blak Earth will also begin booking shows in the near future.

Nach dem 2014 veröffentlichten Debüt „Unter Strom“ und dem 2017 veröffentlichten Zweitling „Dunkle Materie“ legen die beiden Akteure Thorsten Fries(Gesang, Gitarre, Keyboards) und Arndt Hebel (Schlagzeug, Percussion) nach nur anderthalb Jahren ihr drittes Album „Spukhaus“ vor.

„Schneller und härter“, der oft gehörte Metal-Slogan trifft hier nur teilweise zu. Obwohl einige Songs in der Tat schneller und auch härter denn je geworden sind, finden sich auch Nachtgreif-untypische balladeskere Töne auf Album Nr. 3, wie die Band verlauten lässt. Es ist ihr bisher abwechslungsreichstes Album geworden.

Der typische Nachtgreif-Sound blieb natürlich erhalten. „Unsere eigenständige Note, Härte gleichzeitig mit Melodie undDeutschen Texten zu verbinden, konnten wir ohne dritten Mann sogar noch verfeinern und optimieren“, sagt Sänger Thorsten Fries, der nun notgedrungen auch noch in die Saiten griff, was den teilweise tonnenschweren Riffs jedoch keinen Abbruch tat. „Es handelt sich somit sozusagen um den Nachtgreif-Sound in seiner reinsten Form bisher, sucht Genudel halt woanders…“, lacht der Sänger. „Außerdem konnten wir flexibler und schneller agieren als bisher.

Musikalisch blitzen neben Gothic-Rock bis zu Neuer Deutscher Härte nach wie vor und wie gewohnt auch Einflüsse aus 1980er-Hardrock- und Heavy-Zeiten auf. Die Lyrics greifen erneut, wie man es von Fries gewohnt ist, zeitkritisch oft ernsthafte Themen etwa von z. B. Benachteiligung, Verrohung, autokratischem Gebaren und Klimawandel auf, verpacken diese aber stets metaphorisch und würzen sie oft auchmit einer Prise Zynismus. „Die Presse zieht wegen der deutschen Texte ständig Vergleiche mit alten Unheilig, Witt, Rammstein oder Oomph!, aber wir würzen auch musikalischgern eine Prise Pretty Maids oder Black Sabbath dazu, wenn man das so sagen kann“, grinst Fries.

Mit dem Titelsong des Erstlings „Unter Strom“ gelang 2014 eine Top 20-Platzierung in den Amazon-Download-Charts. Die Single des Zweitlings Dunkle Materie „Brachial“ brachte es im Mai 2017 sogar auf Platz 1 der Amazon Neuerscheinungen in Rock & Metal.

Sänger Thorsten Fries startete seine musikalische Karriere 1996 zusammen mit Markus Pfeffer bei Winterland. Nach diversen Auftritten im Südwesten und drei englischsprachigen CDs gelang mit dem erstmals deutschsprachigen 2010er-Album „Alles geht“ ein größerer Wurf. Das Video zum Titelsong „Alles geht“ wurde bis heute auf Youtube fast 160.000mal angeklickt.

Drummer Arndt Hebel spielte zuvor in den Heavy- Formationen Millennium Blackund Alien Nation. Er hat heute, genau wie Thorsten, ein kleines Studio, macht z. Zt. bei House of Audio nebenher noch einen Abschluss als Audio-Engineer und ist für alles Technische, so auch Produktion und Artwork verantwortlich.

Die beiden Protagonisten sind seit über 30 Jahren befreundet.

Biography

MILLENNIUM was formed in 1982 by Mark Duffy (vocals) and Pete McArdle (guitar). They recruited Steve Mennell (drums) Dave Price (bass) and Dave Merrington (guitar). The band recorded their first demo in July 1982 at Guardian Studios the demo contained two songs Magic Mirror and I'm on Fire. Later that year they went on to record a second demo again at Guardian studios the band recorded three songs Steal your Heart, Rock was meant for me and Nightmare (which later became The Devil Rides Out). In 1983 Guardian records released a compilation album featuring Millennium, Spartan Warrior, Tokyo Rose, Risk and Incubus. The album contained three Millennium demo tracks Magic Mirror, Steal Your Heart and Rock was meant for me. In July 1983 Millennium started recording their debut album again at Guardian Studios. The band released their debut album in 1984 on the Guardian Record label to much critical acclaim. Unfortunately Dave Merrington decided to leave the band. Millennium soon recruited local guitarist Mike Muskett a former member of the band Skitzofrenik . The band recorded a number of demos between 1985 - 1988 and disbanded in June 1988. Vocalist Mark Duffy went on to join Thrash Metallers TORANAGA releasing albums through Peaceville records and Chrysalis records. In 2014 No Remorse Records re released Millennium's debut album followed by a second album released in 2016 titled "Caught in a Warzone" this album was made up from recordings the band made throughout 1985.

RECENT HISTORY

In 2015 Mark responded to an advert that Will Philpot had posted looking for like-minded individuals to form a Metal band. The idea of resurrecting Mark's NWOBHM band Millennium seemed an obvious course as Mark had always felt that this chapter of Metal history was not yet over. Original members were contacted and drummer Steve Mennell and guitarist Dave Hardy were on board along with new bass player Andy Fisher. Rehearsals and gigs followed with a great response to the live appearances at Brofest, Live Evil and Mearfest. During this time Will and Mark had been demoing new material that they had written. Sadly, ill health and other commitments meant the loss of Steve and Dave. In February 2017 the band, including new drummer Darren Moore (previously in Millennium from 1987 - 1988) travelled to Coach House Studios in France to record their new album, mixing the album at Ritual Studios in Darlington UK, the band are ready to unleash "AWAKENING", a combination of NWOBHM riffage, Heavy Metal ideals and a lyrical call to arms. Welcome to the new Millennium!

... lassen die 70-er Jahre wieder aufleben!

Mit ihrem nunmehr dritten Album hauchen JC Crash den 70-er Jahren wieder Leben ein. JC Crash stehen für den Sound von damals - jedoch mit modernen Mitteln aufgenommen.

Die Band bietet uns hier zwölf rockige Stampfer, wobei Sänger Rooby bei allen stimmlich immer ganz nahe an Bon Scott dran ist, das bleibt auch bei `Electrified´ wieder klar herauszustellen.

Was sich bei den Songs aber neben den AC/DC Klängen abhebt ist z. B. bei Song zwei `Gone But Not Forgotten´ beim Chor, dass dieser an die Boogie Zeit von David Lee Roth`s Solo-Zeiten erinnert.

Zur Instrumentierung bleibt zu sagen, dass diese genau die gleiche wie bei AC/DC ist und auch der Mix wird ganz ähnlich nachempfunden und das ganze Konzept ist im Einklang und exakt stimmig.

JC Crash bleiben sich und ihrer Linie treu und erspielen sich damit anhand von ein paar Reviews, die bereits jetzt schon durch das Netz huschen viele neue Fans. Die Jungs machen was sie lieben und die Vergleiche zu AC/DC werden ihnen natürlich auch in Zukunft an den Fersen kleben. aber das ist doch wirklich ein Ritterschlag!

Für mich persönlich das Beste mit Bezug und Vergleich auf AC/DC was meine Ohren jemals erreicht hat.

DEAD MAN`S HAND stehen für groovige, melodiöse und eingängige Songs die von hartem Rock bis Heavy Metal eingeordnet werden können. Mit einem energiegeladenen, druckvollen und professionellen Sound werden die Eigenkompositionen von den vier Musikern aus der Region Mittelhessen präsentiert. Die musikalischen Einflüsse sind eindeutig: AC/DC, Black Label Society, Metallica, Motörhead und Saxon hinterlassen ihre Spuren in den Werken von DEAD MAN`S HAND.

Individualität erhält die Band vor allem durch den eigenständigen markanten Gesang sowie die unterschiedlichen Einflüsse der Gitarristen. Durch die Kombination einer klassischen Rock-/Country-Gitarre mit einer drückenden Metal-Gitarre wird der individuelle harte Rocksound geschmiedet.

Die aus Wetzlar stammende Band hat sich im Herbst 2014 gegründet und besteht aus vier Musikern, die alle über langjährige Band- und Bühnenerfahrung verfügen. Derzeit arbeitet man an dem Programm, welches ab Herbst 2015 im Rahmen der DEAD MAN`S NIGHT-Tour live präsentiert wird.

From rock to metal, this is Dead Man`s Hand from Wetzlar, Hessen, Germany. This is a fourpiece band with their own compositions. Their man influences are: AC/DC, Black Label Society, Metallica, Motörhead.

The band has formed in autumn 2014 and their hometown is Wetzlar. All musicians are experienced with long time band and stage experience. At the moment Dead Man`s Hand are working on their programme to be presented at their shows this autumn.
